Human-in-theLoop: The Future GCC

Global Capability Centers (GCCs) are evolving rapidly. Over the past decade, they have moved from
cost-focused delivery centers to strategic innovation hubs. Now, as AI and automation reshape
industries, a new workforce model is emerging: Human-in-the-Loop (HITL). This approach
combines artificial intelligence with human judgment, ensuring that technology enhances people
rather than replaces them.

India is at the center of this transformation. With 1,900+ GCCs employing nearly 1.9 million
professionals, the country has become a global powerhouse for enterprise operations. But the next
phase is not about adding more people. It is about building smarter systems where humans and AI
collaborate effectively.

Cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru are leading this transformation, with reports showing that
around 70% of leaders in these hubs are AI-ready, meaning they actively drive AI adoption in their
teams. For graduates, this signals a clear direction: learning how to work with AI tools, rather than
avoiding them, will be key to career growth in the coming years

To support this shift, companies are investing heavily in learning and development. Nearly 80% of
GCCs are funding training programs to help employees build skills in areas like prompt writing, AI
tools, data literacy, and AI ethics. These programs ensure teams understand not just how to use AI,
but how to use it responsibly and effectively.

AI is not just removing tasks it is reshaping jobs and creating new responsibilities. In many GCCs,
roles are being redesigned to work alongside AI tools. In fact, around 27% of mid-level tech roles
and 25% of junior tech roles are being restructured to include AI support.

GCCs are no longer
just executing tasks. They are leading transformation initiatives. Many multinational companies now
assign advanced analytics, AI product development, and global operations strategy to their India
centers. This shows growing trust in India’s ability to manage both technology and governance.

AI will change jobs, but it will not remove the need for people. Instead, it will increase the value of
critical thinking, adaptability, and communication skills. For B2B leaders and HR startups, the
opportunity lies in building tools and systems that support this collaboration between humans and
machines.

The future GCC workforce is not fully automated, nor fully manual. It is intelligently blended.
Human-in-the-Loop is not just a technology model. It is a strategy for sustainable growth.
